  • To the untrained ear maybe. They don’t all sound the same. Some sound quite different. But I’m a weirdo who has been working in the automotive industry for like 25 years and can usually tell you what kind of car it is by hearing it start.

  • Same starters. 80’s-2000’s Hondas all sound the same a start up. Jeeps, 60-70’s Chryslers..

  • I’ve only had a Tacoma and a 4Runner with the 4.0L V6 and they both sound like industrial fans when you start them up. Do other Toyotas sound like that?

  • My wife’s ’15 Highlander does not sound like my ‘11 Tundra. Sometimes my wallet wished it did though.

  • Just brought a rav 4 , and the motor has a loud ticking noise, like the lifters.. casually goes away as it heats up? Is this a Toyota thing?

  • Lol my GR Corolla circuit edition does not sound like a Rav 4 when it start it up. I’m sure the GR Supra and 86 don’t sound like a Camry either. No no

  • A LOT of Toyotas share the same engine, powertrain, and accessories. There are bound to be some similarities.

  • Do you mean the sound of the parking brake disengaging? I’ve noticed they all sound pretty similar.

  • I still can hear a D-4D starting a mile away, so distinct sound.

  • Some manufacturers saving technique , even engines they use the same ,the very first year was 2022-2023 that toyota uses turbo engine and i guess they fail at that

  • Hybrids don’t because it uses the hybrid motor to start the engine 😉
